Waved farewell to this tree tunnel painting yesterday. Such a pleasure to be commissioned to paint one of my favourite subjects. I really enjoyed using enamels for the underpainting. The enamels create some gorgeous irridescent tones as the light hits the surface of the metal throughout the day. I have probably photographed this piece the most out of all my paintings because it changes so dramatically depending on the angle from which it is viewed.

Having a great time playing around with some new ideas. Thanks to the lovely @guyparkerrees for allowing me to use his fantastic photographs as reference for what I hope to be a new series of large scale oil on wood studies of derelict beach houses in Thailand. A way to go on this one and it is already coming out in a different way than I first planned but really enjoying the process and going with the flow! #newwork #originalart #oilonwood #thailandbeachhuts #beachhuts #workinprogress

During the summer, I made this watercolour painting of my beautiful 'Taiga' clematis to enter into #rhs 'The Plant Review Magazine's Artist in Residence competition.' I chose to draw the Taiga variety of clematis because of its fascinating transformation throughout its life cycle. The bud starts as a plump star shape, gradually blossoming into a fuller, more vibrant burst, eventually maturing into a lively pom-pom. As the flowers age and near the end of their bloom, they take on a graceful, chandelier-like form, adding an antique elegance.

Definitely a piece that tested my concentration and patience but I found it fairly therapeutic...I think... 🤭 Well done to the well deserved winner. Do check out @the_rhs and their page showcasing the fab entries 😊

I'm super fond of this piece. It featured in an exhibition with women artists in Lewes and it always draws me back to thinking more deeply about my practice. I remember being heavily inspired by both the energy of Thomas Ruff's blurred nude photography and the distortion of El Greco's elongated figures. I will always have a connection with dark, gritty, unresolved themes and with school out for the summer, it's feeling good to have some breathing space to consider how to best tackle the next body of work coming up this year. #reflection #unresolved #power #control #figurativeart #oiloncanvas
